The Facts About Trolleys on Cambie

• TransLink promised to return trolley buses after Canada Line construction was completed
• TransLink budgeted the restoration of trolley wires in the construction budget
• TransLink directors then recanted this promise November 17th voting 10-2 to reallocate money promised to Cambie trolley wire restoration elsewhere
• A large percentage of wires are still up, it would cost just as much to remove wires as restore them
• Wires on Cambie would give greater operation flexibility allowing more reliable service should problems occur on parallel streets
• TransLink must replace lighting poles (the major cost in overhead erection) after contruction regardless of trolley wire restoration, why not put heavy poles in at that time?
• Running trolleys coaches on Cambie would give better utilization of the new fleet of trolley buses
• Electric trolleys coaches are quiet and non-polluting, a good greenhouse gas fighter
